Mercyhurst Green is an environmental organization that encompasses the entire Mercyhurst College community. It represents the efforts of faculty, students, administration and staff at Mercyhurst College to assess the environmental performance of the campus and to improve its environmental sustainability. Mercyhurst Green acknowledges the possibility of a harmonious relationship between humans and the environment if humans learn to live, work and behave in ways that sustains the integrity, beauty and biodiversity of earth.

Mercyhurst Green seeks to improve environmental awareness by encouraging the integration of environmental issues into the classroom. With projects dealing with recycling, composting, waste reduction, energy efficiency, pollution control, the watershed, and environmental consciousness, the organization attempts to instill a sense of ecological responsibility in members of the Mercyhurst community. Following to the mission of Mercyhurst College, Mercyhurst Green encourages people to think critically about environmental issues and work for positive change that will benefit both the environment and the cause of social justice worldwide. It is the goal of Mercyhurst Green to make Mercyhurst College a model of how human society will need to organize itself in the 21st century, not compromising the ability of future generations to live healthy and productive lives.
